Evidence

A family was staying at a nice Japanese-style inn when their daughter was brutally murdered in the bathroom adjoining their room. The scene was beyond gruesome.

The girl’s body was stabbed dozens of times, and her face was damaged beyond recognition. To make matters even stranger, she was found with her tongue missing.

The police put all of their efforts into solving this dreadful case, but after weeks of research, they still had no leads.

Why?

The girl in the red dress

Warning: This is a legend that may potentially cause harm to those that hear it. Many people who hear this story report having the same dream afterwords, so please be careful!

A woman wearing a red dress will appear to you in a dream. She will give you directions that no normal human could ever remember.

“Once you reach this destination, you will see a white door,” she will say before leaving. “I will wait there for you.”

Once she disappears, your surroundings will begin to shift, and you will have to start your journey to find the girl.

However, if you make any mistakes in your route, you will hear the girl speaking to you.

“You mustn’t go that way! You mustn’t go that way!”

If you listen to her directions and advice, you will eventually find the white door she told you of. When you open the door, you will find her.

“You came for me,” she will say to you.

Most people who have this dream will wake up at this point, but very rarely somebody will become trapped in the dream, wandering for the rest of eternity.

It is said that those that hear this story will dream of the girl in the red dress within three days.

Pray that you wake up…

The video tape

Trigger warning: Stalker

Aya, an office lady, finished up her work for the day and went home. When she checked her mailbox, she found that all she received was a single video tape.

She was extremely interested to see what was on the tape, so she hurried up to her apartment and put it into her VCR and began to watch it.

The video was quite strange in that it seemed to be filmed at night with no lighting used at all. Aya couldn’t be sure because of how dark the video was, but it looked like a girl was screaming in the middle of a dim room. Aya heard both what sounded like the girl talking to herself as well as to another person who must have been nearby.

Aya quickly grew bored with the video’s contents and picked up a magazine on the table. She left the video playing as she skimmed through articles.

A few minutes later, all sound stopped on the video. Thinking the video might be over, Aya looked up to see the girl on screen going into a closet.

A few seconds later, the room on camera was lit up.

It was the same room Aya was currently sitting in.

After the light in the room turned on, she realized that the rest of the recording was documenting everything she did after coming home from work the previous day.

Another call for help on 2chan’s occult board. Part way through, the questioner changes her ID to Hasumi, but it’s easy enough to tell which Anon she is.

This might be my imagination, but can I get some help here?

What’s wrong?

101 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:18

A little while ago, I got on a train. It’s part of a certain privately run train line, but there’s something strange about it.

104 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:19

Uh huh

107 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:23

I use this train all the time to get to and from work, but it’s been 20 minutes since we’ve made a stop. Usually it stops about every 5 minutes, maybe 7-8 tops, but it’s been forever since the last stop. There are 5 other passengers, and they’re all asleep.

108 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:23

You still haven’t gotten off the train, right?

111 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:25

Did you mistake a limited express for a train that stops at all of the stations?

112 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:25

»107

Are you on an express train?

114 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:29

It is possible that, like some of you have mentioned, I got on the wrong train. I will wait a little longer to see what happens. If anything else strange happens, I will ask here for help.

115 Anon is behind you・・・:2004/01/08 23:35

Why don’t you go to the end of the car and ask the conductor what is going on?

The resident of room 3

Note: One of my pet peeves with many Japanese creepy pastas is that the author sometimes goes overboard with explaining the creepy part of the story. This is one of those stories. I’m going to translate the whole thing, but put the overkill behind a cut.

——

The ramen restaurant I worked at was in the middle of a certain city’s red light district. Many of the customers were prostitutes and other sex workers who were ordering before starting their work for the evening.

The restaurant was quite popular, and that was primarily because of the delivery service that was offered. There were several “dorms” for sex workers in the area (right next to the ramen shop itself was an apartment rented out for female prostitutes), and dozens of orders would be placed by the women alone every day.

Most of the orders were a simple order of ramen or gyoza. That isn’t very profitable so most restaurants would refuse those sorts of things, but our restaurant was more than happy to deliver even those simple requests.. This is why the place was so popular.

Including me, there were four of us who were working part time. We would be split into pairs and take turns every other day waiting on customers in the store or doing delivery runs. I was paired with Satoshi, but sometimes he would say some weird things.

When the two of us were on delivery duty, I would cover the northern half of the delivery area and he the southern. Apparently there was a strange customer that he would often delivery to.

That customer would always order the same thing—fried rice. Satoshi never heard her voice and never saw her face. The apartment she lived in was also a little weird in that the women that lived there were very rough around the edges; many seemed to have ties to the yakuza or were from South America.

Satoshi said that every day, he was to delivery the fried rice at 6 pm exactly. He was to leave it at the door and then return to the store without speaking with or seeing her.

Why? A guy who seemed to be in charge of the area—a yakuza member, needless to say—came to our shop and spoke to the master about having the food delivered. The master was already used to the more interesting customers and orders we got, so he didn’t ask any questions when the request was made. Regardless, questioning those sorts of things in that area was dangerous, and everybody knew the unspoken rules.

When Satoshi told us these things, the rest of us part timers began to make up stories about what must go on there.

“There must be a wanted criminal living there.”

“Or they’re hiding something nobody is allowed to see.”

Those sorts of things. Satoshi didn’t know her voice or face, but whenever he picked up the dishes the next day, something that looked like lipstick would be on the silverware. That’s why we assumed the person living there was a woman.

Other than Satoshi, none of us had ever been to the apartment so we weren’t too interested in it. Satoshi, though, was extremely curious about what was going on there.

He would often try to ask other customers that he knew well about the woman, but nobody would say a word about the strange customer. Even the master would tell him “You shouldn’t look into it too much. You might get hurt if you do.”

One day after we had finished work, Satoshi and I were heading home together when he started talking about the customer again.

“Um… I think I might try knocking on that customer’s door…” He wanted to think of a reason to speak to her, face to face, so that she would open the door and he could see her.

“That’s a good idea. Go ahead and do it!” I thought it sounded funny, so I went along with it.

I had a long break, three days, from work after that evening. When I returned to work, the boss looked concerned.

“Hey, you’re friends with Satoshi, right?”

“Did something happen to him?”

“He’s been missing since the day before yesterday.” I couldn’t hide my shock.

Satoshi went to work and did his job as if nothing was wrong. And, just like always, he went to deliver to that woman’s apartment. He came back to the shop after that delivery and waited on customers for a while, but at some point in the evening he disappeared.

The other workers thought that he might be in the bathroom, but he wasn’t there. His clothes were in his locker in the changing room, as was his bag. It was as if he just vanished.

“Did Satoshi tell you anything at all? Do you know anything about what happened, or if it seemed like he was having any problems?” the master asked me.

I most definitely was good friends with Satoshi, but he never gave me any sign that he might take off.

The master checked Satoshi’s apartment, but it didn’t seem like he had returned there either. He called Satoshi’s parents as well, and his parents put in a missing person’s report with the police.

Disappearing from work and leaving all of your belongings behind… That is definitely strange.

“I wonder if he got caught up in something dangerous…” the other workers and I mused.

But of course, I had my suspicions. He must have really knocked on her door. Did he see something he wasn’t supposed to?”

But I didn’t tell the master.

After Satoshi disappeared, I ended up taking charge of that apartment. Just like he described, the tenant would always order fried rice. Everyday, it was the same thing.

But, there was one difference.

Instead of ordering one plate of fried rice, she began ordering two.

Yukari-chan

Slight trigger warning: death in the family, family issues

 —

Yukari-chan was a happy girl living with her mother and father until she entered the fifth grade when her father was suddenly killed in an accident. Ever since that day, her mother began working furiously from sunrise to sunset. As single-mother households are often spoken poorly of, Yukari’s mother wanted to make sure she didn’t give anyone reason to think badly of her.

Eventually Yukari graduated from elementary school, and she also did well in middle school before moving on to high school. Her mother, however, had always been somewhat physically weak, and she ended up passing away from working herself too hard. Right before she died, she called Yukari over to her bed.

“Yukari, I’m sorry that even I’m going to leave you so soon. If you are ever in trouble, open this.” She handed Yukari a handmade good luck charm and passed away.

After that, Yukari was placed under the care of relatives and started high school. She tied her good luck charm to a strap on her backpack.

One day, a boy from her class began to tease her for it. “Yukari, lemme see that charm you always have with you!”

She loved the charm her mother gave her and fumbled with a response, trying to avoid giving it to him at all costs. Still, he managed to snatch it from her and opened it up. Yukari explained everything to the boy, hoping that he would return it to her.

He was quite stubborn. Ignoring her pleas, he took out the contents of the charm.

It was a letter. The boy, after reading it, went completely silent. Yukari, until now, had no idea what was inside the charm. She was heartbroken and insisted that he give the letter to her.

As soon as she saw the letter, she began crying profusely.

In her mother’s clear handwriting were the following words:

Phantom Answering Service

Have you ever heard of “Phantom Answer”?

Phantom Answer refers to a phantom that can answer any question you wish to know. It is a ritual you perform with cell phones that allows you to contact this phantom.

In order to go through with the ritual, you need ten people—including yourself—to stand in a circle. Each person must have a cell phone with them.

The first person must call the second person on their cell phone; the second person must call the third person on their cell phone; the third person must call the fourth…

Repeat this until you get to the tenth person, who will call the first person. At this time, everyone must call the person next to them at the same time. If your timing is correct (and this were a normal phone call), everybody should receive a busy signal or message when connecting.

However, instead, your phones will connect to the Phantom Answering Service. If you have followed the directions correctly, you can ask the phantom any question you wish to know.

The answer part is a little complicated, though. Out of the ten participants, nine will get to ask any question and have it answered correctly and truthfully. The other person, though, will not be so lucky. The phantom will ask this person a question. The questions are unreasonably hard, such as “On September 1 of the year 128,025 AD, what day of the week will it be?” Needless to say, such questions are nearly impossible to answer.

If the answerer is unable to give an answer, or they answer incorrectly, a hand will reach out from the cell phone screen and take part of the person’s body.

Supposedly, the phantom in question was born with only a head. By playing its game, you are helping it to collect body parts so it can become human.

Team

A group that had been stranded on top of a mountain in the middle of winter was saved after two weeks with no way to contact the outside world. The group members were composed of college students belonging to the trekking club of their school, and due to a sudden worsening of weather conditions, they ended up finding themselves fearing for their lives.

A local rescue group were able to save four of the five students. Police questioned the remaining four group members about what had happened to the fifth.

“He went missing about a week after we got stuck on the mountain,” three of the four replied.

The fourth survivor came back with severe mental trauma, though. Unable to speak, all he would do was write “TEAM TEAM TEAM TEAM TEAM TEAM TEAM TEAM…” over and over again in the notebook the police gave him.

Hiking on the mountain

A friend and I decided to go hiking on a mountain. It was supposed to be a great time!

But now… Now, I’m running. Holding onto my friend’s hand, I run as fast as I can so we can get away from them.

We were feeling curious, so we went down an animal trail. They jumped out at us as soon as we started down the path, though.

No matter how much I run, they just keep jumping out from the side of the path.

And they all have hatchets…

Finally, when I was beginning to think that I couldn’t run anymore, I realized that nobody was following. Exhausted, I fell to the ground.

Huh. My friend must still be freaking out because he’s still holding my hand.

“How long are you going to be holding on to me? They aren’t following us anymore, so you can calm down.”

I rolled over only to see that my friend wasn’t there.
